  3. This CDROM contains the Hobbes OS/2 Archives from the Internet site
  4. at hobbes.cdrom.com.
  5.  
  6. Most of the files on this disc are either zip or zoo archives. There
  7. are programs provided in the /bin/dos and /bin (for OS/2) directories
  8. for extracting these files.
  9.  
  10. We've included a program that helps move around on the disc.  Type
  11. 'dosview' or os2view when in the root directory of the CDROM drive.
  12. This program navigates through the complete zipped collection.

  36. OS/2 treats all files that are on a CDROM as being read only.  This
  37. attribute is carried with the file when it is either copied or
  38. "dragged and dropped" to a hard disk or floppy.  This attribute
  39. must be cleared before the file can be deleted.  From the command
  40. prompt type "attrib -r <filename>".  From the Program Manager, open
  41. the settings pages for the file, select file, go to the third page, and
  42. un-check the "read-only" box.

  44. ==================== 2.1 Service Pack Installation =========================
  45.  
  46. BEFORE CHOOSING TO INSTALL THE 2.1 SERVICE PACK PLEASE READ IBM's
  47. README INFORMATION ABOUT THIS CSD.
  48.  
  49. To install the service pack from the Hobbes archive OS/2 CDROM,
  50. create a set of CSD (Corrective Service Diskettes) floppies from the
  51. floppy images in <CDROM Drive>:\2_1\servpak directory.  These are the
  52. images for the 3.5" distribution only, so you must have a 3.5" floppy
  53. drive on your machine in order to use them.  The floppies are created
  54. with the "loaddskf.exe" utility.  This program can be found in <CDROM
  55. Drive>:\bin.  Make sure that you don't have anything vital on any
  56. floppies you choose to use for creating the CSD set, as all data will
  57. be erased.  To create a floppy, use a command like this:

  59. cd <CDROM Drive>:\2_1\servpk
  60. <CDROM Drive>:\bin\loaddskf 06200b1.dsk a: 
  61.               image file ==>^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^<==Destination Floppy Drive

  63. The only disks required to do the installation are the first 13 plus
  64. the new Display Driver Diskettes (images 06200b17.dsk -
  65. 06200b19.dsk).  Once the images are created, shutdown your system
  66. using the shutdown command, insert the first CSD floppy, and reboot
  67. your machine.  The CSD will then guide you through the procedure of
  68. upgrading your system.

  73. on it.  Many programs on this disk are shareware.  You are free to
  74. try each program for a limited amount of time.  If you are satisfied,

  78. you the most up to date version of the program and a printed manual.
